That old cemetery map in my hometown had one thing wrong, and it took me 2 summers to find it

Back in 2021 I started messing around with a 1912 plat map of the old Potter's Field outside of Auburn. Last week I finally got the GPS coordinates to line up with a fence line that the map shows running right through a neighbor's cornfield. Turns out the original surveyor marked the creek bank one season too early, and a flood moved the waterway about 30 feet east in 1923. I dug around the county recorder's office and found a handwritten correction from a guy named Hollis who was the road commissioner back then. He literally sketched the shift in the margin with a pencil, and nobody ever filed it properly. Has anyone else run into old maps that are just plain wrong because of a natural event that happened after they were drawn?
