Tried a ground penetrating radar in my backyard and hit a buried basement nobody knew about

I got a cheap GPR unit off Craigslist from a guy in Tucson for about 400 bucks. I wanted to find an old septic tank but instead found a full 10x10 foot room under my lawn. The radar showed a void at 4 feet deep with a brick outline. Turns out my house from the 1920s had a root cellar that got filled in during the 50s. I spent the whole weekend digging down and found old jars and a rusted stove. Just goes to show you can get way more than you bargained for with the right tool. Has anyone else stumbled onto something big with basic gear?

Oh dude, did you check inside that stove before you hauled it out? I ask because my cousin found a 1920s cast iron stove in a barn once and there was a whole nest of copperheads living in the firebox. He almost grabbed it barehanded lol. Your root cellar sounds way cooler than the weird stuff I've dug up. I used a metal detector at a old fairground here in Jersey and all I got was 17 pull tabs and a rusted harmonica that still kinda works. That GPR find is legit though, makes me want to save up for one myself.

And that stove had me thinking about what else might be hiding underground around here.
