Unpopular opinion: Small-scale digs give us better clues than the big famous ones

Tbh, finding a complete tool set in my backyard trench last month changed my whole view.

Tool sets beat treasures. When was the last time a pharaoh's tomb showed you how people fixed their carts? Small finds like that tool set give a clear picture of daily work. They don't make the news, but they make history make sense. I'll take a handful of nails over a crown any day.

In London, medieval tools explained daily life better than any treasure, @the_pat.

Seeing those medieval tools at the Museum of London really changed how I see history. Like @oliviar65 said, they show daily life better than shiny objects. I'd probably injure myself with an ancient saw, but I love the humble story.
