Chose between my mom's old Singer and a $79 entry machine, and I picked wrong
Six months ago I got back into sewing and had to pick between my mom's 1974 Singer and a cheap plastic machine from the craft store. I went with the new one since the Singer weighs 30 pounds and only does a straight stitch. Three broken needles and a jammed bobbin later, the plastic one sits in my closet and the Singer is on my table. The old machine has sewn through 8 layers of denim without one complaint. Anyone else get lured in by a shiny new machine and regret it?
