Finally finished my first quilt after 3 years of picking at it, and my hands hurt but I'm weirdly proud
So 3 years ago I bought a fat quarter bundle at a little quilt show in Paducah and told myself I'd have a baby quilt done by Christmas. That Christmas came and went. Then the next one. The fabric sat in a bin under my sewing table and I kept telling myself I'd get to it when work slowed down. Last week I finally pulled it out and just made myself sit down for 30 minutes a night, no phone, just the machine. Six nights later I had all 42 squares pieced and yesterday I got the binding sewn on by hand while watching a baseball game. It's crooked in two spots and one corner has a pucker you could hide a pea in, but it's DONE and it's warm and my niece dragged it around the house all evening. Anybody got a trick for keeping the layers from shifting when you baste? I used safety pins this time and I still fought it.
