Got roasted for my kiln schedule at a pottery meetup in Boulder last Saturday
I was firing my first glaze batch at cone 6 and a guy named Rick asked to see my schedule sheet. He pointed at my 200F per hour ramp and said "you're cooking the outside before the inside knows what hit it." I switched to 100F per hour with a 30 minute hold at 1100F and my last 8 mugs came out with zero pinholes. Also bumped my top temp down 20 degrees and the glaze finally stopped crawling on the rims. Anyone else had to slow way down after someone else looked at their ramp? What hold times are you all running for Amaco glazes?
