I spent 12 years hating cilantro, one salsa verde flipped me
Growing up in Ohio, I thought cilantro tasted like soap, no joke. My mom would put it in tacos and I'd pick every leaf out, this went on from age 8 to 20. Last month a buddy from Phoenix made his abuela's salsa verde with tons of cilantro and lime. He made me try it blind, no telling me what was in it, and I loved it. Turns out I needed it mixed with acid and heat, not just sprinkled on top. So now I'm wondering, did anyone else get over a food hate after having it prepared a totally different way?
