My car battery died at a rest stop in Nevada at midnight and I had to flag down a tow truck driver who only took cash.
I was stuck for two hours because the only tow service that answered wanted $80 upfront and my phone had like 5% battery left, has anyone else been stranded somewhere with no backup plan?

$80 upfront for a tow doesn't seem that crazy to me.

Oh man that is seriously rough! I just read a news article about how a bunch of rest stops in the southwest don't have cell service at all so you basically got lucky with that 5% battery. That $80 upfront thing sounds like highway robbery honestly, I heard some tow companies charge huge fees just for showing up in the middle of nowhere. Nevada at midnight must have been creepy, I bet the stars were beautiful though you were probably too stressed to notice. I always keep a portable charger in my glove box now after my cousin got stuck in Arizona for three hours with a dead phone.
