PSA: Changing a toilet flapper took me 3 hours because I bought the wrong size twice

and the worst part is, you don't realize you have the wrong size until you've already drained the tank and got water everywhere. I did the exact same thing with my toilet a few months back, bought one that was supposed to be universal but it just flopped around uselessly. Then the next one fit but the chain was way too long. By the third trip to the store I was so annoyed I just bought three different kinds at once to save myself the headache. Now I have a drawer full of spare flappers just in case.

And then you end up with a drawer full of flappers like @robinson.leo said, which is basically admitting defeat but also kinda smart because you're never making that third trip again.
