Shoutout to the guy at a Phoenix gas station who caught my tire before I hit the highway
I was 40 miles outside Phoenix on I-10 heading home when I stopped for gas around 9pm. A stranger walked up and pointed at my rear tire, which was almost flat and had a screw sticking out of it. I had no spare and no clue, so I pulled up a tire shop on my phone and it was closed, but he gave me the number of a mobile guy who showed up in 30 minutes for $85. Without him saying anything I would have been doing 75 mph on a blown tire in the dark with my kid in the back. Now I actually look at my tires at every stop instead of just pumping gas and leaving. What random stranger moment made you change a habit you still keep?
Wait, so you're saying a total stranger saved you and now you check your tires every single stop? Honestly that's a great habit but I kinda see it differently. I feel like the real issue is you didn't know your tire was going flat before you even pulled in, which means you weren't paying attention while driving. Ngl the stranger was a hero, no doubt, but you should've felt that pull in the wheel way before the gas station. My dad made me learn how to check tires and listen for weird sounds when I first got my license, and yeah it stuck with me too, but it never took some guy at a pump to teach me. Not trying to be harsh, just saying the habit should've come from the drive, not the parking lot.
