Swapped my screaming alarm for a sunrise clock and now I wake up confused
I used to wake up to my phone alarm at 5:30 AM for like 6 years straight, and it would just jolt me out of bed feeling like trash. Last month I bought a cheap sunrise lamp that mimics natural light and it goes off over 30 minutes instead. At first I kept waking up before the actual alarm thinking I overslept, which was weird. But now I actually get up without hitting snooze, which I never thought would happen. Has anyone else tried this and found the transition period really unsettling? Or is it just me?

Question why we make such a big deal about how we wake up. It's just light, not some magic fix for your whole day. You trained your brain to jump at a loud noise for six years, so of course a slow glow feels off at first. Give it a few more weeks and you'll probably be back to hitting snooze like the rest of us. Honestly, the confusion part sounds more annoying than the actual alarm ever was. But hey, if it works for you, then fine, just don't act like it's life changing.
