The $18 neck pillow vs. the $3 one I had for years, huge difference

Flew to Chicago last Tuesday for a job estimate and forgot my usual neck pillow in the moving truck. Grabbed one of those cheap inflatable ones at the airport kiosk for $18, the ones you blow up like a pool toy. I figured it would be the same as the $3 foam one I've been using since 2019. By hour two of the flight I realized my head wasn't flopping forward every time I dozed off. It's weird how a little bit of firmness and adjustability changes everything. Has anyone else switched from foam to inflatable and never gone back?

My buddy Dave swore by the same $3 foam pillow for years, and he laughed at people who bought the fancy inflatable ones. Then he borrowed one on a red-eye to Denver and woke up with his neck feeling normal instead of like he'd slept on a rock. He bought one the second he landed, and now the foam one sits in his closet as a backup that never gets used.
