The parking garage stairwell in Chicago taught me to always carry a flashlight

Power went out on level 4 with my phone at 3% and I stood in pitch black for 15 minutes before a guy with a keychain light walked by, so has anyone else gotten caught somewhere stupid with zero light?

That 3% battery detail is what gets me... because people always think they'll have their phone light but it dies at the worst time. My thing is, nobody ever talks about how your eyes play tricks on you in total blackness. I was stuck in a basement once and started seeing phantom shapes that weren't there, it was worse than the dark itself honestly. So yeah, flashlight is smart, but learning to calm your brain down is just as important.
