Took 6 weeks to figure out I could reset my router timer

My internet kept dropping at 2 AM every day for weeks. I thought it was the ISP or my old router dying, so I bought a new one for $80 and swapped it out. Still dropped at 2 AM. Finally called support, and the guy said "check your timer settings" like it was obvious. It was a parental control feature I'd accidentally enabled, took 30 seconds to fix. Anyone else ever chase a problem that had a dumb simple cause?
