Vent: I spent 4 months fixing a leak that was a $3 part all along

My bathroom sink dripped for ages, and I replaced the faucet cartridge twice, watched a dozen videos, even had a plumber quote me $180 in Cleveland for a whole new unit. Turns out the supply line washer was cracked from day one, and swapping it took 10 minutes with a wrench. Has anyone else burned way more time than the actual fix deserved, or am I just the slow learner here?

Funny how the $3 part gets the last laugh, doesn’t it? Nobody ever talks about the mental toll these projects take, like the sunk cost of all those hours and the pride that tells you to keep going. You probably learned more about plumbing in those four months than most people do in a lifetime, so that’s not nothing. Sometimes the real fix is just accepting that your time has a price tag too, and it’s way higher than any washer.
