Why does nobody warn you about mulberry tree roots?
I planted a small mulberry tree in my backyard in Portland 4 years ago because my neighbor said they were low maintenance. Two weeks ago my basement wall started cracking and the plumber found roots growing into the sewer line, costing me $1,400 to fix. Has anyone else dealt with a landscaping choice that turned into a money pit later on?

Basement cracks and sewer roots in four years sounds kinda dramatic, are you sure the plumber didn't just upsell you on the cheapest fix? Mulberries are aggressive, but I've seen way worse trees planted way closer to houses that didn't cause that kind of damage.
