Had to pick between a 12-hour road trip or a $250 flight to see family last Christmas

I chose the drive to save money but ended up spending $180 on gas and food plus 3 hours stuck in traffic outside Nashville. The flight wouldve been faster but way more stressful with cancellations. Anyone else regret a cheap travel decision? lol

The real comedy was when I got there" is basically what happened to my buddy Mike last Thanksgiving. @the_sandra he drove 10 hours to save a hundred bucks and his parents had decided last minute to go to a neighbor's house for dinner. He showed up to a dark house and ended up eating gas station pizza alone in their driveway before driving back the next morning.

Road trips are a gamble for sure. Two years ago I drove eight hours to save maybe sixty bucks and ended up eating gas station burritos that did not agree with me. The real comedy was when I got there and my sister had already left to visit her other in-laws. So I sat on their couch alone for an hour wondering why I didn't just pay for the flight. At least the burrito gave me a story.
