Just found out that honey never really goes bad - even from ancient Egyptian tombs

I was reading a food science blog yesterday and learned that archaeologists found 3,000 year old jars of honey in Egyptian tombs that was still perfectly edible. The low water content and high acidity basically make it impossible for bacteria to grow. It blew my mind that something that old could still be safe to eat. Has anyone here actually tried really old honey or know someone who has?

My grandma has a jar from the 70s, tastes like caramel now.

Oh man, that caramel thing makes me wonder what my own pantry disasters would taste like in 50 years. I've got a jar of honey in my cabinet that's maybe from 2019 and I'm scared to open it, let alone something from the 70s. Honestly though, if I found a 3,000 year old jar of honey I'd probably still eat it, not because I'm brave, but because I'm too lazy to go to the store. My track record with old food is terrible, I once ate yogurt a week past the date and regretted everything. So props to your grandma for having that kind of self control.
