My kid asked why we tip 20% and I couldn't give a straight answer
Last Saturday my 11 year old asked why we leave extra money after dinner at the diner on Route 9, and I said because the server works hard, which felt weak. Now I'm stuck between teaching him that tipping is a broken way to pay people and just handing him the cash so he learns to be kind. Where do you land on this?
