Shoutout to the person who finally explained how to phrase a good question
I spent over an hour yesterday trying to ask about a simple car repair online before someone pointed out my wording was too vague. What's a problem you've solved that took way longer than it should have?

Simple car repair" is never simple, though.

Depends on the repair. Swapping out a cabin air filter or changing a headlight bulb is pretty straightforward. It's when you get into anything with the words "transmission" or "module" that the simple idea goes out the window.

My old Honda's check engine light came on last year, and the code reader said it was an oxygen sensor. I spent a whole weekend trying to replace it myself before realizing the part I bought was wrong for the exact model year. @hugobarnes has a point about things never being simple, because even after getting the right sensor, the old one was rusted solid. Ended up paying a mechanic to fix my fix, which felt pretty silly.
