TIL a guy at a hardware store gave me the most baffling advice on a simple hinge fix
I was in the aisle at Home Depot looking for a specific hinge pin, and this older gentleman next to me just said, 'You know, you can fix that whole door with a piece of uncooked spaghetti.' He was dead serious, said he'd done it for 30 years. I just stood there holding my hinge, completely speechless. Has anyone else ever gotten a piece of advice so weird you just had to walk away?

Wait, uncooked spaghetti? That's honestly the wildest part of this whole thing. I can't even picture how that would hold up a door for more than five seconds. Some people just live in a different reality, I guess.

Yeah, I used to think the same as you, @taylor632, until I saw a video where someone tested it! It turns out if you jam a bunch of dry spaghetti into the gap between the door and the frame, it can actually create a ton of friction. It's not about strength, it's about filling the space completely so the latch can't move back. Blew my mind, honestly.
