Vent: My mailman retired and nobody told me the new protocol

I live on Maple Street in Akron and for 6 years Fred always just left packages on my porch. Turns out the new guy has a strict policy of leaving slips for anything over mailbox size. I found out after 3 days of wondering why my new work gloves never arrived and had to drive to the post office myself. Did anyone else have a system change like this without any warning?

Oh come on, are we really acting like three days of waiting for work gloves is some kind of tragedy? Fred left packages on your porch for 6 years, that was a luxury not a right. The new guy is just following the rules. I mean, you could have called the post office on day two instead of assuming magic mail fairies would sort it out. People act like finding a slip in their mailbox is the end of the world when really it just means walking to the counter.

A buddy of mine went through the same thing in Columbus. His regular mailman quit and the new one left a slip every single day for a week before he finally figured out he had to pick everything up at the counter.
