Warning: I asked my neighbor in Phoenix for a simple recipe and got a three hour cooking lesson

Last week I wanted to make chicken enchiladas and asked my neighbor Maria for her recipe. She invited me over and showed me how to roast the peppers, make the sauce from scratch, and even taught me her trick for keeping tortillas from tearing.
