Had a photo critique session where someone said my astro shots were 'too blue'

I was at a local meetup in Portland last month and this guy looked at my Orion nebula photo and said my whites were all tinted blue. I always thought adding more blue made it look cooler. Turns out I was messing up my white balance bad by using a custom setting meant for daylight. Now I just stick to the auto white balance and tweak from there. Anyone else get called out on color balance by a stranger and actually learn something?

Read somewhere that pro astro guys actually aim for a slightly warm tint to fake natural moonlight.

Used to chase cool blue tones, but that actually makes way more sense.
