I heard a guy at a star party say stacking photos is fake.

He was bragging about his single 30-second exposure of Andromeda and said anyone who stacks is cheating. But that's like saying a telescope itself is cheating - you're just collecting more light. Has anyone else run into this gatekeeping about image processing?

Yeah that attitude is exhausting, solid processing is part of the craft.

Gatekeeping at star parties is the worst, man. It's not like stacking is cheating, it's just using the tools we have to get the best result, same as a longer exposure.
