I thought those 'phone telescope' adapters were a total gimmick until I got one for my birthday last month.

Yeah, I was the same way with those "phone telescope" things. Tried a friend's on a whim and the moon shot I got was shockingly clear. Totally changed my view on them.

That "shockingly clear" line hits home. I always figured they were just cheap plastic toys. Then I borrowed one for a bird feeder in my yard and the detail on a chickadee's feathers blew me away. Completely flipped my opinion on what they could do.
