My old telescope photos from 2009 still beat my new phone shots

Was digging through an old external drive and found shots I took with a 4 inch Celestron from my backyard in Tucson. Compared them to what I got last month with a modern tracking mount and honestly, the old ones have more character even if they're grainier. The Orion Nebula looked like a smudge back then but it felt more real somehow. Anyone else hold onto those early fuzzy pics longer than their sharp ones?

Wait until you hear what happened to my buddy Marcus. He had this old 90s camcorder tape of the Andromeda galaxy from his backyard in Ohio, all shaky and with a horrible red tint from light pollution. Last year he got a fancy astro camera and took a crisp, clean shot from a dark sky site, then spent a week stacking frames and editing it to perfection. And he still keeps the grainy tape clip as his phone wallpaper. Said the old one feels like a secret he found, not a picture he made.

Damn, that hits different. My buddy Dave had this old VHS recording of the northern lights from like 2003, super washed out and blurry as hell, but he refuses to delete it even after getting way better shots with his phone. He always says the tape was the first time he ever saw them so it's like his own little time capsule.
