One sentence in a podcast made me recheck all my stacked image data

I was listening to an old Astro Imaging Channel episode while organizing files and the host mentioned that calibration frames shot over 30 days apart can introduce noise that stacks right into your final photo. I checked my last five nebula projects and THREE of them had flats from different months mixed together. The galaxy image I posted here last spring probably had that problem. I spent 4 hours last Sunday re-stacking M81 with fresh flats from the same night and the background gradient basically vanished. Has anyone else run into this with their own archive, or am I the only one being this sloppy?
