Question about polar alignment on a budget
Used a laser pointer and a protractor to nail alignment, and my shots are now CRISP. Honestly, spending hundreds on gear is overrated when simple hacks work.

Remember that guy on the stargazing forum who aligned his scope with a paperclip and a bubble level. It's part of why I'm skeptical of the whole 'pro-sumer' creep in every hobby... like we're being sold solutions to problems we don't actually have.

Acknowledge the charm of DIY, but modern tools often solve real alignment headaches efficiently.

That paperclip and bubble level story always makes me laugh, because you just know he spent more time fiddling with that setup than actually looking at stars. The whole pro-sumer creep does seem to prey on that fear of not doing something the "right" way, even if the old methods worked fine. It's like we're being convinced that suffering through a bit of manual adjustment is a character flaw instead of just part of the hobby. Honestly, half the time these products solve a problem that was invented in a marketing meeting, not in someone's backyard.
