Shoutout to the $12 red flashlight that saved my star trail shots
I used to light my setup with my phone screen and a white headlamp, and my night shots from Lake Michigan kept coming out washed out and flat. About 4 months ago I switched to a cheap red LED flashlight and started covering my camera screen with a piece of red tape, and my eyes stay dark adapted the whole session now. I can actually see the Milky Way while I'm framing, instead of waiting 20 minutes for my eyes to adjust again after checking settings. First clear night at a dark site near Ludington I got 40 clean 30 second frames without ruining a single one. Curious what you all use for red light without spending real money on the fancy ones.
