Spent 45 minutes trying to stack a single exposure of the Andromeda galaxy in DSS before I realized I had the dark frames folder pointed at my desktop screenshots
I mean it was pretty embarrassing when I finally checked the file paths and saw it was trying to calibrate with a bunch of random jpgs from last month, has anyone else accidentally wasted a whole evening on a stupid settings mistake like that?

45 minutes huh, thats nothing. I once left my flats and bias frames in the wrong folders for three nights of data on the Cocoon Nebula. Wound up with a stack that looked like someone had spilled salt on a dirty window.
Was it that you had darks enabled but no actual darks in the folder, or did DSS just grab whatever random jpgs it found? I swear that programs default folder behavior is set to troll you on purpose.
