Spent about $400 on a used DSLR and a basic lens, thinking it was a waste, but it completely changed how I see the night sky.
I mean, I grabbed it on a whim after seeing a photo of the Orion Nebula online, and now I'm out in my backyard three nights a week trying to catch stuff I never even knew was there, so what's a decent, not-too-pricey tracker for a beginner?

The Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i is a solid starting point. It's a single-axis tracker that handles the weight of a basic DSLR setup just fine. You'll need a decent tripod too, but the learning curve isn't too bad for polar alignment.

Consider the iOptron SkyGuider Pro for its better build quality.

Yeah the learning curve for polar alignment is real. I saw a video where someone got decent results with the Star Adventurer after just a few tries, so @wesley_fox92 is right about it being doable. It's mostly about patience and not giving up on the first blurry shot.
