Found a $200 plumbing leak behind my new backsplash tile
Last weekend I finally finished tiling my kitchen backsplash and it looked perfect. Then Monday morning I saw a wet spot on the drywall near the sink. Turns out the supply line under the cabinet had a pinhole leak for months, and the moisture wicked up behind the new tile. I had to pull off 12 tiles and replace a section of drywall. Has anyone else had hidden water damage show up after a remodel?

Pulled 12 tiles myself last year for the same exact thing lol. What a nightmare, had to cut out a soggy 2x2 section of drywall behind the stove. At least you caught it before mold showed up, that stuff is the real headache to deal with later.

Respectfully gotta disagree with @hollym82 about catching it early being lucky. That "pinhole leak for months" part is exactly why I'd rather find mold behind tile than have to rip out wet drywall and wonder how much structural damage happened while I was busy admiring my grout work.
