Just checked my property tax assessment from 2023 vs 2024

I pulled up my Fulton County property tax statement and saw my assessed value jumped 22% in one year, even though I haven't done any major renovations. That feels like a lot for a neighborhood that's still not fully developed. Has anyone else in ITP Atlanta seen a similar spike and successfully appealed it?

A 22% jump sounds high but it's hard to know without more details on your actual property value. A lot of people get worked up about the assessed value but that's not the same as what you could actually sell for. The county might be playing catch up if your area was undervalued for a few years. Before you appeal I'd check what similar houses in your neighborhood actually sold for recently. If the comps back up that number then an appeal probably won't get you anywhere. I've seen folks waste time and money on appraisals only to find out the county was right.

Really feel for you, that kind of jump is brutal out of nowhere.
