Roswell quoted me $14k for a new HVAC and my neighbor paid $6,800 for the same house
I got three quotes to replace the 3 ton unit in my 1970s ranch in Roswell and the numbers came back $14,200, $11,500, and $6,800. Same size house, same square footage, and as far as I can tell the same equipment. One guy wants to replace the whole duct system and add a zoning setup, the other two say the ducts are fine. My neighbor two doors down did his in March for under $7k with a guy who mostly works from referrals and never runs ads. So here is my question for everybody. Is the cheap guy skipping something that will bite me in two summers, or is the expensive guy just padding the bill because he has a fleet of trucks and a radio spot? I keep going back and forth. Part of me thinks you get what you pay for, but another part thinks half these companies are just charging for the name on the side of the van. Has anybody here gone with a low quote on HVAC and regretted it, or gone cheap and been fine for a decade? I need to pick one by Thursday since the house is hitting 82 inside by 3pm.
