The HOA board president who knocked on my door at 7am on a Saturday

I bought a 1950s bungalow in Kirkwood back in March and last Saturday morning this guy from the HOA shows up before I even had coffee going, complaining my porch light fixture was 'non-period appropriate.' He stood there for 20 minutes explaining the historical paint chart from 1962 and then handed me a 14 page packet of rules, but honestly his passion was so weird that I kind of respect it. Has anyone else dealt with a HOA enforcer who actually made you want to follow the rules, or was this guy just a one-off lunatic?

Man, that's wild. I gotta say most HOA folks are just power-tripping over tiny stuff, but a 20 minute lecture on 1962 paint colors? That's dedication right there. Honestly, if someone cares that much about a porch light, I'd probably just let them have their moment and fix it, lol. At least he gave you the packet instead of just sending a nasty letter like my old HOA used to do. That neighborly energy, even if it's weird, is kinda refreshing. Not saying I'd invite him to the next block party, but I get what you mean.

Honestly, I'd pay good money to hear a 20 minute lecture on paint colors from 1962. That's not dedication, that's a man who lost a bet with his wife and this is his punishment. But hey, at least he's passionate, right? My HOA just sends passive aggressive emails with subject lines like "RE: Fwd: RE: Garage Door." A full history lesson sounds almost charming by comparison.
