Before and after on my 2019 Polaris Sportsman after a bad mud hole

I took my quad through a deep mud hole near Red River last October and it ran rough for weeks. Changed the air filter, cleaned the carb, and flushed the oil - night and day difference, runs like new again. Anyone else have a mud hole ruin a day until you dig into the repairs?

Did you check the air box drain tube? I've seen those get packed with mud and hold water against the filter even after you swap a new one in. That little rubber plug at the bottom of the air box is a real pain, but if you don't pull it and let it drain out you're basically running a swamp through the intake. Also pulled the snorkel off my Sportsman after the second deep crossing because it just trapped crud right where the air comes in. You might want to look at the crankcase vent line too, water can work its way up there and turn your oil milky in no time. How deep did the water actually get on the frame when you were stuck?

Airboxes aren't even an issue if you just avoid deep water altogether.
