Blew $150 on a cheap belt kit for my sled last winter
I figured I'd save a few bucks and grabbed that no-name belt pack off Amazon. First long ride up near Eagle River and the main belt shredded after 60 miles. Had to get towed back to the cabin, cost me another $80 just for the tow. Then I had to buy a quality belt from the local shop for $120 anyway. Shoulda just spent the extra up front instead of trying to cut corners. Anyone else get burned by cheap parts in a pinch?

That "I figured I'd save a few bucks" part hits close to home. I did the SAME thing last season with a cheap gas can strap kit. Held up fine for about three rides then snapped on a bumpy trail. Had to bungee cord my can to the rack for the rest of the trip. Ended up spending $40 on the good quality straps after I got home, so I basically paid twice for what I should've bought first. The irony is the cheap stuff ends up costing MORE in the long run when you factor in the hassle and extra trips.

The worst part is when you're stuck on the side of the trail with a bungee setup and every bump makes you nervous. Pays to learn that lesson the hard way, I guess.
