Dropped $800 on a used Arctic Cat 570 that sounded fine in the driveway but grenaded the belt 10 miles into the trail up by Eagle River. First ride of the season lasted 45 minutes.

Bought it off a private seller who swore it was mint. Compression tested fine, no weird rattles. Didnt even make it to the first warming hut before the belt shredded into confetti. Pulled the cover off and the clutch was completely glazed over. Guy must have known and dumped it on me. Has anyone else had luck with a full clutch rebuild on these older Cats or should I just cut my losses?

Yeah man, new clutch parts fixed mine right up too.

Oh man, that exact thing happened to me a couple years back with a used 550 Fan. Previous owner swore it was "just tuned up" and first ride out the clutch was so hot you could have fried eggs on it. Ended up spending like $250 on a full clutch rebuild kit with new weights, springs, and a fresh belt and honestly it ran like a different machine after that. Might be worth doing if the rest of the sled is solid, those old Cats are tanks once you sort out the clutch issues. Just don't cheap out on the parts, use OEM or good aftermarket stuff or you'll be back in the same boat next season.
