Hit 10,000 miles on my old Polaris last weekend

I was just out on the trails near my cabin in northern Minnesota when I looked down and saw 9,999 on the odometer. Kept going slow for that last mile just to watch it roll over to 10,000 right as I came over a ridge. That machine has been through three belt changes and two deep freezes where it wouldn't start for nothing. Has anyone else hit a big milestone like that on a sled they've had forever?

That 10,000 mile mark is something else, especially on a Polaris. I've got a 2010 Skidoo that just ticked over 12,000 last winter, and it's been through more belt changes than I can count. Take this for what it's worth, but I swear those old machines that have been through a few deep freezes and stubborn starts just get more reliable over time, like they've learned how to run. That slow roll over the ridge must have been a hell of a moment, makes you appreciate all the smaller trips that added up to it.

That whole "machines learning how to run" thing makes more sense than people give it credit for. All those little adjustments and wear patterns probably smooth out over time until the thing just hums along. Bet that Polaris has a few more stories in it yet if it made it to 10k.
