I finally figured out how to stop my sled from bogging in deep powder

My old Polaris 600 kept choking out in the fluffy stuff up near Grand Marais, which was super annoying. After messing with the clutch weights didn't work, I tried a trick from a guy at the gas station: I raised the front of the skid frame by an inch with some homemade spacers. It totally changed the attack angle and now it just floats over the top. Anyone else had to tweak their sled's geometry for deep snow?

Wait, so the secret to snowmobiling was just a gas station guy with some spacers? I've been over here reading manuals like a chump.

Manuals exist for a reason. That gas station fix might get you moving today, but it could wreck your sled next week. There's no real secret, just doing things right so you don't get stranded in the cold.

Man, my buddy tried something similar on his Ski-Doo last season and it actually worked out pretty good. He just used some thick washers as spacers and never had any issues, even on those real deep days up by the Gunflint Trail. Sometimes the janky gas station hacks end up being the best fixes if you ask me.
