I finally stopped greasing my sled bearings every ride

Last winter an old guy at the gas station in Eagle River watched me pull out my grease gun and basically laughed at me. He said I was just pushing old dirt deeper into the bearings and I was wasting my time. I argued with him for like 10 minutes but he showed me his 03 Polaris that had never been greased once and still ran smooth. So I backed way off to once a season and honestly my bearings last longer now. Anyone else had an old timer tell you something that went against everything you thought you knew?

Wait, are you telling me I've been OVER-maintaining my stuff this whole time?

Over-maintaining? That's like saying you brush your teeth too much. Never heard of such a thing. But yeah, maybe you are. I've got a buddy who changes his truck's oil every 1,500 miles like it's a religious ritual. Thing runs fine, but the poor guy's spent enough to buy a second car by now. If it ain't broke, reading the manual once in a while probably wouldn't kill you. Most stuff can handle a little neglect, trust me.
