I just wasted $150 on a cheap winch for my ATV that broke pulling me out of a ditch near Lake Placid.

Has anyone found a winch under $300 that actually holds up in deep snow?

That's a rough way to find out a winch won't cut it, especially up there. Been in that spot before and it's no fun at all. In my experience, deep snow puts a crazy amount of strain on everything. A lot of the cheaper models just don't have the guts for it, even if the pull rating looks good on paper. It might be worth saving a bit longer for something known to be tough, because getting stuck with a broken winch is the worst. Sorry that happened, man.
