My brother told me to always pack a tow strap, and I finally listened

He said it for years, but I never bothered until last winter when my old Polaris got stuck in a deep drift near Lake Tahoe. I was out there for almost an hour trying to dig it out by hand. Another rider came by and had a strap, and we had me free in five minutes. I felt pretty silly for not having my own. What's one piece of gear you all carry that you thought was unnecessary at first?

Ugh, same. I used to think a tow strap was just dead weight. Then I had to be the guy getting pulled out, and I felt like a total mooch.

Yeah, it's total junk until you're the one stuck lol. I felt the same way about a basic tool kit until my truck died in a parking lot.

A tow strap is just more junk to haul around until you really need it.
