PSA: Check your trailer bearings before the season, not on the side of the trail
I used to just hook up my sled trailer in November, kick the tires, and go. That worked fine for about six years until two winters ago when a bearing seized up on I-87 near Lake George and I sat on the shoulder for three hours waiting for a tow. Now every October I pull all four wheels, repack the bearings, and check the seals before the salt even hits the roads. Cost me $40 in grease and seals versus the $310 tow plus a ruined spindle that year. Takes me maybe two hours in the driveway with a jack and a beer. The one time I skipped it I paid for it, and I am not doing that again. Anyone else have a pre season ritual they swear by, or do you just send it and hope?
