Snowmobile trails used to be simpler, now it's GPS everything

Remember 3 years ago when I rode up near Munising and just followed the orange markers, no screen on my handlebars? Last month I got turned around on a new loop and had to pull out my phone just to find the gas station trailhead. Do you guys still ride old school with paper maps, or am I the only one who misses that? Maybe I'm just getting cranky at 42, but has anyone else noticed the trails feel more crowded since the apps took over?

GPS got me out of a bind last winter when a snowstorm rolled in and the markers were buried. Paper maps are great until you're stuck in whiteout conditions with no landmarks. The trails aren't more crowded because of the apps, they're more crowded because more people discovered how fun this sport is. That's a good problem to have honestly. Plus those orange markers still exist, the app is just a backup when things go sideways. Riding old school is fine for familiar loops, but pretending tech doesn't help in a pinch is just stubborn.
