Spent $400 on a used snowmobile carb rebuild kit and it froze solid on the trail

I picked up one of those cheap all-in-one carb kits off eBay for about 60 bucks for my 2012 Arctic Cat. Thought I was saving money over the dealer parts but nope, the gaskets swelled up after two rides and dumped gas everywhere. Ended up stranded 8 miles out near the Iron Range trail last Sunday in 12 degree weather. Did anyone else get burned by those knockoff rebuild kits or am I just unlucky?

Dude, same exact thing happened to me with a cheap kit off Amazon for my Polaris Indy. The gaskets turned into mush after one real cold ride, and I was stuck on the St. Croix river trail for two hours before a guy on a Skidoo towed me back to the parking lot. It's wild how those knockoff kits just can't handle the cold or the ethanol in gas, they're basically made of cardboard or something. You're not unlucky at all, it's a total scam and I learned my lesson the hard way too. Now I just buy OEM gaskets separate and use the brass parts from the cheap kit if they look decent, which is a pain but beats freezing your butt off.

Buddy of mine had the same cardboard gasket problem, froze his fingers off on Lake Minnetonka.
