Talked to a guy at the gas station about his old Arctic Cat

I was filling up my trailer in Grand Marais last weekend and this older guy next to me had a really beat up 1998 Arctic Cat ZR 440. He said he's put over 10,000 miles on it and only ever changed the oil and plugs. He told me 'new sleds are for show, old iron is for go.' It made me look at my own payment on a new machine differently. Anyone else run into someone with a sled that just won't quit?

That guy's sled has seen more miles than my last truck. Makes my own gear look a bit too shiny and worried about.

Tell you what, that kind of gear tells a story mine just can't. My stuff still has the price tags whispering sweet nothings about resale value, while his sled probably has a logbook full of close calls and perfect landings. It's like comparing a library book that's never been opened to one that's been dropped in a bathtub and still gets passed around. Makes you wonder if keeping things too clean means you're not using them right.
