Took my 2003 Ski-Doo up to the Keweenaw last month and that old carbureted machine actually ran smoother than my buddy's new 850 on the rough trails.

I figured all that modern tech would glide over everything but the old girl just chugged through the bumps like she owned the place, has anyone else noticed new sleds feel almost too stiff for real trail riding?

Wait, you're telling me that old 2003 Ski-Doo outran a brand new 850 on the rough stuff? That's wild. I always figured those newer machines with all that fancy suspension would just float over everything. Guess there's something to be said for a good old carb setup and a bit of weight to keep you planted.

100% agree with you @nathan193. My old 2003 Summit 800 with a carb and a basic skid will track straight through the choppy stuff while my buddy's 850 with all the fancy shocks bounces around like a basketball. That heavier machine just stays planted, no question. Sometimes less really is more in the rough, especially when you're not trying to float over everything like a hovercraft.
