Chipped clear coat with a cheap DA sander, lesson learned

Bought a $130 off-brand DA sander from an online auction to save cash on a roof repair job in my shop. It vibrated so bad it chattered the panel and I burned through the clear on a Porsche hood, cost me $800 to respray and blend. Anyone else get burned by bargain tools on high-end work, or am I the only sucker here?
